Learn Life Lessons in the Moving Industry (Part: 2)

Like any other major industry, the moving industry has its fair share of surprise, thrill and action. The demands made by the customers and the daily panics and hilarious events could enliven the life of every industry professional in one or the other way. There are many life lessons that come with working here. Some of the most important ones are elaborated here.

The first lesson in the moving industry is that although the customer is the king, he is not always right. A mover must always collect the payments on time. It often happens that private clients don not make the payments until they see that the goods are ready for delivery. However, this could turn out to be a nightmare at times. If the coordinator goes miles ahead and trusts the client, things can become difficult for those who have to go and collect the payments.

The next life lesson, the big one, is to value the goods correctly. Movers can often face the situation where the customs officers could value the goods awkwardly high. For example, one such move involving a golfer client found that the customs officer valued the goods at 50 times their actual worth. The client became hysterical and it took several hours before the customs officer could be made to realize the error in valuation and the client could be calmed.

Another life lesson in the moving industry is about the artist clients. They don’t like the concept of time management because according to them, it doesn’t support creativity. It is important for movers to understand that they shouldn’t try and reason with such clients. Rather they should develop the skill of remaining calm with them.

These are some of the most important life lessons that every professional would learn in this industry.
