AMSA Receives Grant Funding

AMSA Receives Grant Funding

It is always fantastic news when receiving funding from a grant and it is no exception with the recent grant received by the AMSA. It is no secret in the moving business that keeping great drivers, who have the qualifications and will stay in the profession, is a difficult task especially due to a current shortage across the board.

AMSA’s grant, $35,000, is possibly going to stop this shortage with the hope of attracting potential drivers into the industry through an online service. The proposed site name, which will not only give information about the career to prospective drivers but also enable up to date information for businesses including current legislation, is the Virtual Van Operator Recruitment and Service Center.

This exciting service is set to go live later in the year, with the backing of the AMSA’s Driver Recruitment and Retention Committee organizing the whole package, as well as the advertising and promotion of this new venture.

It is important for the moving business to understand the requirements of their drivers.  Having qualified drivers is becoming increasingly difficult to secure long-term as alternative job options can seem more attractive.

This grant comes from the National Network of Business and Industry Association. They have looked for opportunities where they can help to find ways to promote business growth and the grant for AMSA is just one of eight grants they have awarded. They are looking for groups who work together to promote job opportunities, which enable people to live a successful life.

It is essential that bodies like AMSA look at helping their members get the best possible information to help them provide a customer service that meets the business standards. It is only with training and employing the right individuals who are there for the long-term that businesses have the potential to establish themselves and grow.
