Bekins Moves to Wheaton

Bekins Moves to Wheaton

As Wheaton Van Lines grows closer to completing the acquisition of Bekins Van Lines, Inc., both brands prepare to share operational efficiencies as the fourth-largest goods carrier in the U.S. When the acquisition process is complete, each company will be centrally headquartered in Indianapolis, Indiana, the long time home of Wheaton Van Lines. Once the two companies combine, their combined van line agent base will rise from 240 to approximately 370 across the country.

Wheaton hopes that the acquisition will act as a stimulus for Bekins, a well-regarded relocation company that faced flagging sales numbers during the early 2000’s. Wheaton will also bolster their experienced corporate roster by absorbing 38 of Bekins former corporate employees. Following Mid-March of 2012, the operational functions for each line will be handled from Wheaton headquarters in Indiana. Bekins former offices in Hillside, Illinois will be closed.

After the completing the acquisition, each company will continue offering private and corporate household goods moving services, both domestically and internationally. The new team of companies will also continue offering relocation services for the U.S. Department of Defense, one of Wheaton’s largest domestic customers. Combined, the two companies possess over 180 years of domestic household moving experience.
