It is well-known in the moving industry just how tight the federal and state regulations are placed in terms of business. Both for the protection of the van lines themselves, as well as for the trusting customers whom are served. Yet even still van line agencies find themselves being the direct target for lawsuits based under state consumer fraud statutes. A quick look at moving news across the country. In this installment, we look at an interesting piece of news from the state of Kentucky. The expectations of a piece of Legislation to pass the Kentucky General Assembly in this coming year are still looming in the air. The effect of this would in turn throw out the existing law which allows household goods moving companies (already in existence) to be encouraged to “block” any new companies from entering their state. The push for this new law was to put it into effect in early 2013.

Two van line companies have found that perhaps one of the biggest keys to success is that in the way of purchasing other van line companies. Which in turn expands both businesses, thus creating higher profit margins.
