Don’t Freak Out on your Tech Department

Don’t Freak Out on your Tech Department

If you are a start-up moving company, or have been in business for a long time, chances are you have some kind of software or program that helps you run your business. The unfortunate part about it is, no matter how modern technology becomes, you will still have issues, at some point or another. The trick is not to freak out about it, it makes techies lives much, much easier.

With artificial intelligence, scanners, auto-responders and wireless routers, something will fail you eventually. When this happens, give yourself a few seconds to compose your thoughts, take a deep breath and contact your tech department for help. Support teams are there to help, not make your life harder, and help them, help you, do your job.

Avoid negative and defensive comments such as “this is absolutely ridiculous”, “this always happens to me” and “I didn’t do anything!” None of these are helpful phrases to a techie. Instead, with a calm and level head, do your best to answer any technological questions they may have for you. Most of the time, tech support simply wants to know what you were doing right before the error occurred.

Many people are afraid of being ridiculed or embarrassed when it comes to technological problems, so they simply act in defense when they feel they may have been the one to cause the issue. Don’t be afraid that a techie will call you out, instead, heed his or her advice and try to never do what caused the issue again. Do your best to learn from your mistakes and realize that the software and tech support are not the enemy, but that they have been put into place to help you and your company runner quicker and more efficiently.
